○ KT partners with Hyundai Engineering to establish smart city in Osan South Korea's leading telecom company KT has partnered with Hyundai Engineering, an engineering and construction company, to create a data network ecosystem ideal for the next-generation city infrastructure utilizing artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing. KT said in a statement on March 21 that the company signed a memorandum of understanding with Hyundai Engineering to establish a smart city network infrastructure in Osan some 45 kilometers (27.9 miles) south of Seoul. The city government joined hands with Hyundai Engineering to establish a smart city complex. A smart city is an urban complex where everything is connected via wireless and cable data networks. Based on AI and big data, control towers monitor the complex in real-time to make citizens' life more convenient. A smart city system can prevent safety accidents, improve the flow of road traffic, and manage power using an AI-based power management system.
